Where It All Started

Look, we're not gonna pretend we've been around since the 1800s or anything. The truth? Quintharion Vexis opened its doors in 2011, and honestly, those first few months were... let's call them interesting. We had big dreams and a team of people who'd worked in hospitality long enough to know what guests actually want - not what some corporate handbook says they should want.

Our founder, Helena Vexis, spent 20 years working in hotels across Europe and North America. She'd seen it all - the good, the bad, and the "why on earth would anyone think that's a good idea?" She wanted to build something different. A place where luxury didn't mean stuffy, where elegance felt natural rather than forced.

Vancouver seemed like the perfect spot. You've got the mountains, the ocean, this incredible mix of cultures and cuisines... it just made sense. Plus, the Pacific Northwest has this vibe that's both sophisticated and down-to-earth, which is exactly what we were going for.

How We Got Here

Every achievement felt like climbing a mountain, but that's what made them worth celebrating

2011 - The Beginning

Opened with 78 rooms and a team of 45 people who believed in the vision. Our restaurant wasn't even finished yet - we served breakfast in what would eventually become the spa reception area. Good times.

2013 - The Spa Opens

Finally got our full-service spa up and running. Took longer than expected because we kept changing our minds about what we wanted. But when it opened? Worth every headache. Guests started booking rooms just to access the spa facilities.

2015 - Recognition & Expansion

Won our first hospitality award for "Best Boutique Hotel Experience" in Western Canada. That same year, we added 22 more rooms and expanded our conference facilities. Also hired Marcus Chen as our Executive Chef - that decision changed everything for our dining program.

2018 - Going Green

Committed to sustainability in a real way. Installed solar panels, revamped our entire waste management system, partnered with local farms for our restaurant. It was expensive and complicated, but we sleep better at night knowing we're doing our part.

2020-2021 - The Tough Years

Yeah, we're not gonna sugarcoat it - the pandemic nearly broke us. We had to get creative, adapted our spaces for long-term stays, offered day-use spa packages for locals, basically threw the old playbook out the window. Our team stuck with us through it all, and that meant everything.

2023 - Renovation & Renewal

Completed a major renovation of all guest rooms and public spaces. Fresh look, updated tech, but kept what made us special in the first place. Also launched our mentorship program for young hospitality professionals - we've learned a lot over the years and figured it's time to share.

Today - Still Learning

We've got 100 rooms now, a team of 120 incredible people, and we're still figuring things out as we go. The hotel business doesn't exactly come with all the answers, but that's what keeps it interesting. Every guest teaches us something new.

Helena Vexis

Founder & Managing Director

Started her career at 19 as a front desk agent in Vienna. Worked her way through every department you can think of across hotels in London, Paris, and Toronto before settling in Vancouver. She's got this uncanny ability to remember every regular guest's coffee order. Also makes terrible jokes during staff meetings, but we've learned to live with it.

Experience: 28 years in hospitality

Marcus Chen

Marcus Chen

Executive Chef

Trained in Vancouver and Tokyo, did time in some seriously fancy kitchens before joining us in 2015. Marcus brought this whole new energy to our dining program - mixing techniques from different traditions without making it feel forced. He's obsessed with sourcing ingredients locally and gets genuinely excited about mushroom season.

Experience: 19 years in culinary arts

Sarah Martinez

Sarah Martinez

Director of Guest Services

Sarah's been in hospitality since college, working her way up from concierge to running our entire front-of-house operation. She's the one who implemented our guest preference system and trained the team to actually use it properly. Has this sixth sense for knowing when something's not quite right with a guest's experience.

Experience: 15 years in luxury hospitality

David Rousseau

David Rousseau

Spa & Wellness Director

David came from a background in physiotherapy before switching to spa management. He's built partnerships with wellness experts across North America and constantly brings in new treatments that actually work - not just trendy stuff that sounds good on paper. Weirdly passionate about essential oil quality standards.

Experience: 17 years in wellness & spa management

Jennifer Park

Jennifer Park

Events & Conference Manager

Jennifer handles everything from intimate business meetings to full-scale conferences. She's stupidly organized and somehow stays calm even when clients change everything at the last minute. Started as an event coordinator at a convention center before joining our team in 2017. Makes the impossible happen regularly.

Experience: 12 years in event management

Thomas Okonkwo

Thomas Okonkwo

Operations & Facilities Director

Tom's the guy who makes sure everything actually works behind the scenes. From HVAC systems to room turnover schedules, he's got it covered. Worked in hotel operations for major chains before coming to us in 2019. He's turned our maintenance and housekeeping departments into well-oiled machines.

Experience: 21 years in hotel operations

Being honest when something goes wrong and fixing it quickly.
